Questions
Can I claim without you?
Yes. You can claim directly from your train operator, for free. We save you the form-filling and the remembering.
Do you decide whether I get compensation?
No. The operator decides and pays you directly. Submitting a claim is not approval.
Do you assume I travelled on my usual train?
Never. Following a train doesn’t mean you were on it. We only claim after you confirm.
What if the train was cancelled?
We ask what actually happened and when you arrived. We never make up a delay.
Is latemate free?
Your first month is, with every claim included however long the delay. After that it’s £1.99 a month for every claim. Cancel any time: it runs to the end of the month you’ve paid for.
Does stopping chat alerts cancel my subscription?
No. Manage billing on the website.
Can I be paid by bank transfer?
No. We don’t hold bank details: keeping them safe isn’t worth the risk for you. The train company pays you by PayPal, to a charity, or with a voucher you can cash.
Is my Telegram chat secret?
No. Bot chats are not end-to-end encrypted secret chats. We never send ticket barcodes or bank details in chat.
Are you part of a train company or National Rail?
No. latemate is an independent service. Delay Repay is the operators’ compensation scheme; we make claims under it for you.
